SSI SCHAEFER acts as general contractor for a system in the beverage industry

Brandenburger Urstromquelle, Germany, contracts SSI SCHAEFER with the turnkey construction of a pallet-warehouse with 14 aisles. The extension will be used as a finished goods and dispatch warehouse.

SSI SCHAEFER is currently building an extension to the existing logistics center of the Brandenburger Urstromquelle located in Baruth, Brandenburg/East Germany. An additional high-bay-warehouse will be added to the production plant located there. The new pallet warehouse with 14 aisles will contain almost 45,000 pallet storage locations. The extension will be integrated into the production and storage process during regular operation. The bid made by SSI SCHAEFER as a general contractor including the planning, the approval process and the complete construction engineering was accepted.

The automation specialists will therefore be responsible for the complete scope of delivery for the project from the base plate to the layout of the plant, the extension as well as the materials handling technology, the IT-equipment and the sprinkler system. The handover of the turnkey construction is to take place in the course of this year.

Besides the construction work and the rack construction it is also planned to install and integrate 14 storage and retrieval machines with double bearing pressure and an hourly output of up to 44 double cycles each. The pallet conveyor system that is shown in the layout of the plant will be connected to the production by remodelling of existing components and is designed for a throughput of up to 600 pallets an hour. Furthermore, an electric monorail will be installed for the stock removal of the pallets containing beverages. The installation of a materials flow control and the extension of the existing warehouse management system are intended to be the backbone in view of information technology. In addition to that a modern system for visualization will provide transparency for each process.
