In the Kemnath-based office of Simon Hegele Gesellschaft für Logistik und Service mbH (Company for logistics and service), SSI Schaefer, in the framework of a pilot project, implemented the full automation of a mobile racking system with a total of five moveable rack units and one VNA vehicle.

Moreover, a pallet conveying system is integrated into the material flow control, which is configured specifically for the customer. This pallet conveying system connects the goods receiving area with the shipping area and, as the central element, the fully automatically operated mobile rack arranged in between. Further functions are the supply to and away from five order-picking positions as well as the connection of storage areas on a second level to the conveyor system.

Warehouse and material flow control is implemented on the basis of "ant", the system software developed by SSI Schäfer. Via standard interfaces, it integrates all subsystems such as VNA vehicle, traffic management system, conveying system, and mobile rack.

A specifically adapted HOST interface creates the safe connection to HELIS, Hegele´s own warehouse management system.
